2 Reasons You Shouldn't Discount Email Marketing For Makers

Your email inbox is already overflowing, so why should you even think about keeping up with your own newsletter?

People have been saying email marketing is dead since mid 2000's, but it's far from it. Practically every website you go to has an annoying pop-up or "subscribe for news and updates" form buried at the bottom of the webpage. So if it's already so saturated (and usually annoying), should you even try?

Short answer, absolutely! Because you can do better than 95% of the newsletters out there and here is why.

Reason 1: Social Platforms Come & Go, But Email Is Here To Stay

Does anyone remember MySpace?

As hard as it can be to believe, there was a time when the internet didn't exist, much less Instagram or TikTok. MySpace used to be extremely popular, but has since completely died. TikTok used to be this random thing middle schoolers used, but now it's insanely popular!

Email has been around before any of them, has outlasted ones that died out, and will still be around long after they go away (after all, you have to have an email to sign up with them...).

Reason 2: People Ignore Bad Emails, But Open Valuable Ones Immediately

We are all constantly bombarded with information we don't care about, product pitches, and pleadings to watch another YouTube video in email, so we ignore a vast majority of it.

You might think that people will just ignore your emails amongst the noise, but only if they don't care about it. We can differentiate ourselves by providing value, not an ask for someone's time or money. Instead, think about what problems your audience has, what you can do to solve it, and give it to them asking nothing in return.

Your emails can be immediately opened if you give your readers something they actually want without them having to ask you.

Effective newsletters are all about building trust with your audience through free value, just make sure it's value they care about.
