The 1 Reason Your Content Creation Systems Aren't Working

You've worked to transform your hobby into a side hustle or small business, but your systems aren't working.

You can't seem to post consistent content.

You can't point to any results from all your hard work.

You can't figure out what's not working.

The Problem: You're focusing too much on having the perfect system

Yes, you need to have a good system in place so that you can fall back on it when your mood doesn't match your goals.

However, you shouldn't be putting as much effort into creating, recreating, modifying, and revamping your system. I get it, creating systems can feel productive, but the point of the system is to help you streamline, not be the thing that you focus on the most. After all, you started posting content to grow a Maker business, not a business processes and strategy business.

Focusing too much on your systems is "productive" procrastination and it's holding you back.

The Solution: Refocus on your business, not just the systems

Think back to what you did before you had systems and why you created them in the first place.

You probably wanted to be more consistent with your content and see what is and isn't working so you could adjust. The best systems help you get out of your own way so that you can focus on what you actually want to do (which is't constantly refining systems). Put your system aside for a minute and really think about where you're running into issues, what's causing friction, and what you don't like doing.

Then, once you know where your bottlenecks are, craft an easy system you can rely on and fall back on when things get hard (just don't put more effort into your system than doing the actual work).

Systems are amazing when they work for you, but not when you work for your system.

Your systems can include all kinds of things to help you focus on what you actually want and need to be doing to build and grow your business (batching, content calendars, content performance reviews, etc.).

Don't worry about your system being perfect because it will never be perfect, isn't supposed to be perfect, and shouldn't be where your main focus is. If you want some help with your systems, DM me on Instagram and I'm more than happy to help.
