The 1 Way To Gain The Confidence Of Large Successful Makers
Once someone decides to post their own Maker content, the insidious thoughts come that many call imposter syndrome.
Many creators, even outside the Maker space, worry about posting content that they don't believe they are qualified to post. This leads to self-doubt and wondering where large, successful creators find their confidence. After all, they wouldn't have amassed millions of followers, quit their full-time jobs, and created something without unrelenting confidence in themselves and their abilities, right?
The good and bad news is no.
The 1 Way: Just Start Doing
Most people believe that you gain confidence, then you start working, but it's not true.
Confidence comes from doing the thing consistently for a long time. Whatever comes before doing things is really dangerous overconfidence where someone can start to believe their own hype and stop relying on reality. Confidence is really someone recognizing their own competence at doing something successfully because they've done it so many times before.
Doing the thing, creating the project, posting the video, and putting in the volume over time is how you get competent, which is how you gain confidence.
If it helps, everyone starts at 0 and no one started with confidence.
Everyone starts scared, with doubts, and thinks they'll look silly and be mocked. But success comes to those that push through all of that fear and doubt. If you get a chance to talk to someone massively successful and they are honest, they will tell you how much doubt they had at the beginning.
It helps to surround yourself with people who are where you are, a little further ahead, and a little further behind when you need someone to tell you to keep going.
