The 2 Best Habits For Achieving Your Business Goals
All business owners have goals, but fewer small businesses achieve those goals.
Every January, we start with high goals about how "this year will be different." However, February typically sees those goals punted to next year and "more reasonable" goals replaced for this year. What if the problem wasn't your goals, but the habits and actions around them?
I'm still working on the action part, but these 2 habits have helped me start achieving more of my goals sooner for my online business.
Habit 1: The Daily Review
Start every day by reviewing short-term goals and ensuring that the projects and tasks for the week are aligned.
Most people set a big annual goal, but that's still 325 days away. Instead, break down the annual goal into quarters, then months, then weeks. Every day, review the current week's goals, then check the progress toward that goal in your projects and tasks.
Breaking down the goals into smaller bits is a fantastic starting point, but looking at those small goals every day keeps them top of mind and more likely to be accomplished.
Habit 2: The Weekly Review
Every Sunday, zero all inboxes, review long-term goals, and set the upcoming week's goals.
We all have too many emails, projects, ideas, tasks, and miscellaneous notes that should be organized in our second brain. The inboxes are only for capture, so make sure that everything is organized and the week can start on a good note. Then, realign to long-term goals and set exactly where you want to be by this time next week to keep you aligned as you review each day.
Few things are as nice as opening up your email Monday morning and seeing no emails or maybe a few from overnight, so set yourself up to start the week ahead of most people.
