3 Reasons Articles & Newsletters Could Skyrocket in 2026

Visual content is more accessible than ever, so why would written content like articles and newsletters be on my radar for 2026?

After any type of content rises in popularity, increases in accessibility and quality tend to follow. The quality improvements though have been on resolution, color depth, and editing applications, but the subjective quality of the content itself has suffered. Visual content though has some disadvantages people are seeing as more companies are mandating return to office policies.

For 2026, both audio-only and written content could have a large resurgence that you should be prepared for.

Reason 1: AI Adoption

Love it or hate it, AI is here and it won't ever leave.

AI has come a long way just in 2025 and the rate of improvement is only increasing as more data centers are being built, more platforms are integrating their own flavors, and even slower companies are finding ways to include it in their offers. A quick scroll through any text-based platform will show tons of fully AI generated tweets, articles, and copy. As more people rely on AI to generate their words, the bar is lowered for the rest of us that still write our thoughts ourselves.

Losers in the content spaces will refuse to use any AI at all, those who use AI generation for all their writing will have some success, but the real winners will be the people who use AI as a research tool and still write their thoughts themselves.

Reason 2: Social Influencer Fatigue

The stereotypical influencer has caused many to tire of social media and look for more original thinking.

It is hard to filter through the paid sponsorships, product placements, and people trying to grow their personal brands for their own gain. Many are already starting to turn back to platforms like Twitter, Threads, and Blue Sky to get back to reading what other people are thinking. Influencers are not going anywhere and they can be important for successful marketing campaigns, but effective influencers can get their value across through text content as well.

Don't get me wrong, not all influencers are bad and some spaces, like the Maker community, still have influencers that aren't just looking for the next pay day, but those are the ones also looking at writing platforms.

Reason 3: Ease Of Consumption

Have you ever been in a meeting that should have been an email and tried anything to stay awake because your third cup of coffee is empty?

Scrolling through Instagram or TikTok is a dead giveaway that you have checked out. Email though could be work... or it could be a newsletter on a fascinating topic. The same is true for when watching TV and you don't want to pause or mute just to hear what someone is saying if they forgot the captions.

Email and articles can be consumed almost anywhere while you're doing (or appearing to be doing) other things.

If you have a business and are not writing articles or newsletters (ideally both), now is a great time to get ahead of the interest increase.
